OUTREACH
When it comes to promoting the prevention of cardiovascular disease, we’re home on any stage. In 1981, we took our prevention message to the masses, administering a nationwide heart test on a special ABC episode of ABC’s 20/20. Overnight, literally millions of people became familiar with their cardiac risk factors and as a result, many began to make changes in their lifestyle or initiate a discussion with their physicians. Just two years later, Dr. Edward B. Diethrich presided over a worldwide television broadcast of a live open-heart operation to educate the public on the effects and treatment of cardiovascular disease. This program is still referred to today as a landmark event that dramatically illustrated the educational power of television.
Today, we continue to deliver that educational spirit which continually informs the public about heart and vascular disease prevention.
