PUBLIC
When it comes to promoting the prevention of cardiovascular disease, we’re home on any stage. In 1981, we took our prevention message to the masses, administering a nationwide heart test on a special ABC episode of ABC’s 20/20. Overnight, literally millions of people became familiar with their cardiac risk factors and as a result, many began to make changes in their lifestyle or initiate a discussion with their physicians. Just two years later, Dr. Edward B. Diethrich presided over a worldwide television broadcast of a live open-heart operation to educate the public on the effects and treatment of cardiovascular disease. This program is still referred to today as a landmark event that dramatically illustrated the educational power of television.
Today, we continue to deliver that educational spirit which continually informs the public about heart and vascular disease prevention. From small group presentations to large seminars like Public Forum for Your Cardiovascular Health, the Arizona Heart Foundation is consistently identifying opportunities to reach and enlighten the community.
