History

1971 - Established Peripheral Vascular/Surgical Fellowship Program postgraduate training in the latest vascular techniques.

1971 - Cardiovascular Summer Student Program was established to motivate and inspire college students considering a career in medicine.

1975 - First ACT Nurses Day provides nurses with in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular disease.

1980 - Establishment of Never Been Better offers the public free educational programs.

1982 - The first Cardiac School of Ultrasound established in Arizona to specialize in echocardiography.

1987 - International Congress of Endovascular Interventions established to share the latest medical knowledge with physicians from around the world.

1988 - Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program implemented for physicians.

1990 - Creation of "Heart Healthy Lessons for Children" and Mr. Heart, the symbol of good health, to teach children heart-healthy habits.

1992 - Published "Women and Heart Disease," a book designed to help women understand their risk, ask questions and form an effective partnership with their doctors.

1996 - The AHF Continuing Medical Education Department is established.

1997 - Stevie Nicks performs first of 4 fundraising concerts to benefit AHF.

1997 - Heart Healing Dogs is established as an important psychological benefit to heart patients who often are depressed and non-communicative while recovering from an operation.

2001 - First myoblast cell transplantation procedure is performed by AHF researchers.

2003 - Board approves the construction of the Translational Research Center – the “TRC”.

2003 - Partnership formed with WNBA's Phoenix Mercury for "Women & Heart Disease" public service announcement series.

2010 – Established partnership with Gilbert’s Campo Verde High School’s Biomedical Sciences Program to develop curriculum enrichment activities.
